This is just one of those issues that you will hear arguments on both sides for until your ears bleed. I can just picture my grandmother and grandfather arguing over something like this. At this point I am just going with the whole to each his own philosophy when it comes to things like this and try to just let bygones be bygones.

There as been much debate over this and I think both sides if the argument have valid points.

Personally I think that watching a lot of pornography and/or masturbating a lot won't have any physical affects on your body but I think mentally it can cause you issues. If your masturbating daily for example, when it comes to actually having sex, then you might suffer a lack of sexual desire, things like that.

I'm not even going to mention the fact that people who watch a lot of porn will think differently about how they look at people in general as that's a whole other debate!

I do watch a lot of porn sometimes, and there are times I don't indulge in the habit for a while because It may become boring to me, so I give it a break nd get back to it whenever I might again get the urge to. Watching porn would not result in a negative effect on me because for me it's just another form of fun and entertainment.

Based on our experience, I don't think so except if you say excessive means 24/7. Watching porn is actually good for us because it stimulates my husband fully well before we engage in sex. As I had poste in another thread, my husband had suffered ED and it happened not only once when he was not fully prepared like maybe he has a lot of worries in his mind or he is fatigued or there is pain in his body. In other words, the aged are not like the young who can be ready all the time for lovemaking. With our age - I'm 53 and my husband is 61 - we need to be fully prepared to enjoy the activity. It is really devastating for a man to experience ED for whatever reason.

By the way, my husband takes viagra occasionally when he thinks he's not up to it.

As I think with a lot of things though, moderation is the key word. There's nothing wrong with watching pornography either on your own or as a couple to get you in the mood so to speak, but if that then replaces your need to have actual physical sex, then there's obviously a problem going to develop there somewhere.

It certainly can do. Clearly it affects some more than others. It won't cause physical problems, but will affects the psychological triggers for erections. It's an issue that affects primarily young men, because they don't have any physical obstructions to erection. I don't see why people would deny this well documented and obvious fact.

I think it effects the mind more than anything, but that isn't going to be the sole cause of ED in most people's cases. There's nearly always some other underlying disorder.

Personally, I think this argument is like saying that having sex on a regular basis is going to cause ED, which it isn't either.

Personally I think this myth is mainly spread by groups that are critical of masturbation and porn and seeing this as a way to get the attention of people, they would otherwise not reach. It's like the myth that went around at my school, that masturbation causes pimples (why does nobody claim that about something really harmful, like smoking?). I would even say that a exotic story or movie actually enhances your libido and has the opposite effect, psychologically. It gets you hot and what gets you hot, gets you going... :)

I'm not pretty sure about this since I do not watch a lot of porn. But I think porn helps a if you want to get hard so why would it cause erectile dysfunction?

I don't think watching porn excessively contributes to ED. For me, porn and other sexual videos can help in the stimulation especially for older guys like me. But when the time comes that porn does not excite me anymore then it may be something else, physical or mental, that is not directly related to the porn movies. But right now, I can say that porn still excites me although I am choosy on the type of porn. I was like that even when I was younger - not all porn appeal to me.

I think it depends on the person. From what I've experienced, for me at least, porn may have reduced my capacity to climax from any others stimulus other than sex (not a problem but sometimes it is). I've been trying to abstain to see if that would help getting aroused more when I'm with another person and so far it has helped. However the urge to watch is ever present.

Guys hope you can help me. My boyfriend is 67 and 10 years older then me. He takes viagra which kills spontaneity but is not too much of a problem. He watches a lot of porn on his own and masturbates. We mostly make love on a Sunday I would like sex more often but I feel his porn and masturbating habits are getting in the way to the point I am wondering if he actually desires me any more. He says he finds me sexy but I am feeling very confused and feel like I need another partner to feel desired which is totally not my style. Please help guys!!

Ok guys. Let's be reasonable. In todays society total majority of men watches porn at least once a week. If anybody has different info, please provide it. So, if most of us watch porn, then most of all men would have problems downstairs. Yes, I know it says "excessive porn". Well, in that case please explain to me when does this "excessive" start?
