I masturbate almost daily and I haven't had (nor think I will have) any problems with getting an erection or having sex. I think masturbation only releases sexual tension and gives you a positive emotional and physical feeling afterwards. I also don't believe any of the fairytales like that in the article above. I mean, who is able to tell you you're watching too much porn ? How much is proven to be right and how much is proven to be wrong ? There is no such thing. This is like telling someone "You've been listening too much music lately". Doesn't make any sense, imo. :D

No, it shouldn't - the only thing that porn can do is show you some moves in bed. But sadly no one pays attention to the moves because they're "busy". And they ignore whats happening in the video.

Obviously - if you masturbate daily, more than a few times - something might happen. Pornography basically makes your mind a bit "dirtier". Ex: everytime you see a beautiful women, you keep staring at her.

I have heard that watching excessive porn can cause you to have premature ejaculation, but I don't know if it will cause you to have ED.

Though it may be harder to get it up when you are always watching the most beautiful women perform and then you find that your current s/o isn't up to par ;)

I have to say I agree with that article, makes perfect sense to me. If you are watching porn on a daily basis you are filling your head with sex images and fantasies that usually don't happen in our day to day life. When it's time for the real deal I guess your mind could be filled up with fantasies and possibly you are no longer excited by reality.

Donald, how old are you, if I might ask? Maybe you are still young, but eventually at a certain age this might begin to be a problem.

I masturbate a lot, too. Like everyday. And, I watch porn most of the time. But, I haven't had problems with my erection. It's till hard as steel when it erects. But, I kind of agree that porn really creates fantasies inside your head which tend to frustrate you when you finally come back to reality.

I think it can, in some cases. You can develop an immunity to certain sexual stimuli and it can also create unrealistic expectations of desire. If you're used to seeing hot porn women and equate that with getting an erection, it's quite probably that an average, real life woman might not do it for you. These are short term problems, though. ED caused by frequent porn watching can be solved simply by not watching porn for a while.

I think you may have a valid point on the sexual stimuli. However, can that actually be considered ED? And if it does actually effect certain people that way, I think it would be considered short-term, I agree abstaining may be the fix.

This is a very real problem. There are several forums dedicated to this problem and it will become bigger with time. Not everyone watches internet porn will have ED, but those who have an addiction to internet porn and use it for hours on end almost always have ED or Delayed Ejaculation. Perusing those forums almost everyone has the same symptoms and experience. These same people report similar results after abstention from internet porn. Urologists and psychologists are recognizing this phenomena as well.

About the subject, I think it wont affect the erection as long as one doesn't have disorder.

I am of a mind that it may not being porn causing ED symptoms as much as I think the men tend to turn more to porn sites and masturbation so they dont have to deal with ED issues in the bedroom with a partner. Now I realize this too is a case by case basis, but I have several friends with ED who have made this a lifestyle choice so they do not have to deal with partner stress related issues.

I do not believe watching excessive porn will cause erectile dysfunction. We have all heard the quote, "too much of a good thing" though. I do believe watching a lot of porn, especially the same porn, may bore an individual. Once one becomes bored by watching or repeating the same sexual act, they may not become as sexually aroused.

I think it is important to introduce your sexual psyche to new environments, styles, etc. to keep one entertained and fulfilled. I have experienced less sexual arousal when repeating the same sexual acts with a person or watching the same pornography. Create variety for yourself so you do not become bored and it should increase your sexual experience.

I don't think watching excessive porn will cause ED, even though after a while when you watch too much you might have to resort to fantasizing to get a "start" when you're actually gonna be doing the act instead of watching it.

It is really just the matter of personal opinion.

There were also articles on how porn increases sexual desire lol... some of them even blame all the increasing of rape cases on porn... How do you explain that? But at least these articles are quite the opposite of the one posted by OP. Don't believe everything you read.

In my own case, I believe watching porn actually made me more horny during my earlier years haha. Now I have a gf, there is no reason to watch porn any more besides teaching her some new tricks lol.

First define what excessive means. If it occupies most of the waking hours then it will affect health hence may cause ED. Watching porn in itself, in my opinion, does not directly cause ED but rather somewhat desentizes ones mental and psychological reaction to the stimulus. One may not get as turned on to sufficiently trigger an erection.

Its completely anecdotal, but I found that as I got older (I'm 30 now, practically ancient) the less I was able to masturbate and maintain a healthy sexual relationship with my wife at the same time. I found that if I masturbated, then I had to wait at least 24 hours before I was able to put in a good performance in the bedroom.

So I quit masturbating and my sex life has never been better.

Like I said, thats just my anecdote, but giving up watching porn and masturbating has led to a much healthier sex life for me and my wife.

I never understood the need to watch tons and tons of porn. Just a few minutes to get it out of my system and I am satisfied until another day. What happens is after watching too much porn, you dont feel the same excitement because you have seen it so much, its no longer something unique. And as a result, you might not get the same reaction. My soution was to change up the types of women and maybe see a fetish as long as its nothing disgusting.

If you are experiencing ED, it may be best to talk to your doctor and see whats going on.

That's kind of like saying "I never understood the need to drink tons and tons of alcohol. Just a few drinks after a hard day at work and I am satisfied until another day". One can become addicted to porn or masturbating or whatever.

Thanks for sharing the link, good read.

I thought about this before, I used to watch porn daily and at that time I noticed a decrease in my sex drive. I though It must be my "over exposure" to porn. I decided to take a break from porn and thing immediately improved. This article is great cause it confirms my "theory". I understand how a lot of porn could desensitize you affecting your sex drive, and the over stimulation of dopamine makes total sense.

I have to disagree there. It can't be true lol... or wouldn't it be the same if you have had sex with the same woman over and over? Wouldn't it also bored you and make it "nothing unique" after you two have had a long term sexual relationship?

By the way, do you mean masturbation when you said "get it out of my system"?

I would think it is the only solution if you don't have a woman. Just like porn. Some single men can't find something to relief themselves, so they turn to porn to feel better lol. I used to do that... but it really just made me more horny and want to have sex more instead of as a "relief".

If someone wants to get off the porn, the best course of action is to get a girlfriend. Just my 2 cents. Although I do not believe watching porn is bad at all. :p

I'm not so sure it can cause impotency but I do believe it can become an addiction where the user prefers the "virtual" reality to real people. This occurs for many reasons, fear of being rejected, fear of failure during the evening and even fear of "real" women. Another would be sexual deviation which most women would find repulsive.
