Perhaps, the only known creature to use sex not just for reproduction but also for self-gratification is Man. Humans have sex as part of a union between two individuals pleasure plays a big part in sex. Sex enhancing drugs like Viagra or Cialis are now used not only for erectile dysfunction but as an "aid" to get it going for a couple more rounds of sexual activity, people use it as an aphrodisiac. Humans have been known to use aphrodisiacs for hundreds of years and some of the exotic ones are powdered tiger bones and powdered horns of a Bull Rhinoceros. Do you know of any natural Aphrodisiac? and have you tried using it?

I can't speak to the efficacy of any of these, but oysters, honey, chili peppers, and chocolate are all supposed to be aphrodisiacs. Personally I think oysters are about the least sexy food in the world but there's no accounting for taste ;)

Chocolate makes more sense to me, and ride wine is another one that's supposed to help get you in the mood. Vanilla and pomegranate are also supposed to increase blood flow and boost sensitivity in certain body parts.

I think this is one of those things that varies quite a lot from person to person. None of them can hurt though, so you may as well have fun experimenting!

Not really a food, but I've been using Heracleum for quite a while now. Don't you ever use Tribulus Terestris. It's a major scam. Our body doesn't have the proper enzymes therefore you excrete it without having any effect, except for maybe..the placebo effect. As for the Heracleum, I've been using it with success (and so have people all around the world) for months and me and my girlfriend couldn't possibly be any happier than we are about it.

I've never heard of Heracleum - how do you take it, where you do buy it and what exactly is the effect? Does it just make you horny or is there a physical tingling or something like that? I don't think I need a plant to do that, personally, but I'm curious to know more about it from someone who's taken it.

Well, it can be found in most of the shops that sell natural products, therefore it doesn't need any prescription. It can be found in pills, but I prefer to take it as tincture, because I believe it's more effective this way.

Well humans take everything in this world to another level even sex. I know of oysters, people don't recognize it but I think alcohol can be one too.

Some people say oysters, but I dont have any experience with that. That horny goat weed stuff they sell is like over the counter viagra.

I doubt this. There are animals that masturbate.

So totally and completely ignorant to call alcohol an aphrodisiac.

No it isn't. There isn't an over the counter replacement for Viagra.

Alcohol isn't an aphrodisiac but it does lower one's personal inhibitions, which can result it giving into those sexual urges. That's not necessarily the definition of an aphrodisiac but you can enhance a sexual experience by, for example, having a few glasses of red wine in a romantic setting. Increasing one's comfort can result in a more fulfilling sexual experience.

The discussion about alcohol as an aphrodisiac made me think of something...weed! :D Of course it's not for everyone, but it helps me relax and let go of the worst of my self-consciousness and anxiety. Plus, high sex is just fun sometimes for it's own sake :p I know I'm not alone in this either, I've seen it come up in conversations about weed again and again, online and in real life.

I feel like I need to add a disclaimer that I don't depend on weed in regards to sex or anything else...it's just like a glass of wine, a little extra fun and relaxation!

Sunshine you took the words right out of my mouth. Maybe not an aphrodisiac, but definitely helps one relax. Sort of like an inedible comfort food. Oddly enough garlic works really well with me.

Alcohol can lower inhibitions, but it is a depressant and ultimately an impediment to function from a physiological perspective. There are better ways to deal with inhibitions.

Marijuana actually is ultimately bad for such encounters for the same reasons as alcohol. It can and often does have negative affects on performance. Especially for men.

Maca root not only boosts your immune system but increases desire, especially in women. Think of it kind of like Ginger. Such a flavored spice with so many added benefits

I realize some people believe this to be true, but there is no evidence that it works and the mechanism of action if any is unknown. A clinical study should be done to verify that Maca actually does work for any of the medical applications it is used for.

That may be true for some, but that's not always the case. I can cite you a source too: me! :)

Weed sex and "normal" sex are both enjoyable to me for different reasons. My girlfriend and I may smoke up before having sexual relations and it's definitely a slower, somewhat mind-blowing experience than having sex sober. It's not better or worst, it's just different for reasons that are difficult to explain.

I've never suffered from performance issues, both on and off marijuana. I'm not saying that it cannot, but from my experiences, if anything it has resulted in positive experiences. I am in a committed relationship though, and in the safety of my own home when such events occur.

I'm in the same boat...I've never looked up the actual science behind it, but in my personal experience it's never caused any problems and has always been really fun :ROFLMAO: Of course I can only speak for myself and my boyfriend and a few friends who have reported the same.

It probably varies a bit from person to person, and the amount could make a difference too. Like, doing shots of whisky all night is likely to have a negative effect on your sexual performance, just like taking massive bong rips until you're greened out. On the other hand, a glass of wine or a few tokes off a joint may be just enough to relax you a bit and lead to some fun :D

I'm a skeptic by default. I need to see data that shows the potential at the very least or a scientific explanation of the intended mechanism of action. I don't ever just try any medication or supplement without a thorough review. I have to many health issues to approach it any other way.

I have quite a list of natural aphrodisiacs I know of:

    1. Garlic. It actually increase blood flow which may improve stamina and of course, sexual prowess.
    2. Avocado. Trivia: During the Aztec times, the avocado was called the "Ahuacuatl" which means "the testicle tree."
    3. Peppers. It naturally heats up the body and also increases blood flow.
    4. Honey. Who knew right? Honey has elements that increase testosterone production which in turn increase sexual desire.
    5. Ginger. It is naturally spicy and also heats the body up to increase blood circulation.
    6. Truffle or Mushrooms. It mimics androstenone, which makes the opposite sex more attractive.
    7. Aniseed for Females. It is said to strengthen female sexual arousal.

When I looked in to this, I found that most methods only work by reducing inhibition. Though one that was claimed to work was Yohimdine (from the bark of the Yohimbe tree!). It is possible to buy it without a prescription, though be warned, a therapeutic dose is around 100 mg per tablet! Some suppliers sell it in 1 mg doses! I also found that using a mushroom called Cordyceps is also well known to improve libido. Basically, the mushroom has been used for hundreds of years in the Far East but isn't so well known in the west. There are a few companies in Europe that sell the products, though I would steer well away from Ebay/ Amazon. There is such ferocious competition when you have virtually identical products side-by-side that it's inevitable that the expensive component (i.e. the mushroom) is diluted.
